Postdoctoral Researcher in Centrosome Proteostasis and Cell Biology

The Institute

The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The CRG is composed by an interdisciplinary, motivated and creative scientific team which is supported both by a flexible and efficient administration and by high-end and innovative technologies.

In September 2026, the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) has received the renewal of the 'HR Excellence in Research' Award from the European Commission. This is a recognition of the Institute's commitment to developing an HR Strategy for Researchers, designed to bring the practices and procedures in line with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (Charter and Code).

The role

The Cell Division and Organelle Biology lab is recruiting a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to investigate how centrioles and centrosomes maintain their structural integrity throughout the cell cycle. The successful candidate will contribute to the CENTROSTASIS project, focusing on the turnover of centrosomal proteins and the molecular pathways that regulate organelle maintenance. The role combines quantitative proteomics, cell-based assays and advanced microscopy to uncover fundamental mechanisms of proteostasis and their relevance to health and disease.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop and apply experimental approaches to measure turnover of centrosome components and their dynamics across the cell cycle.

• Contribute to centrosome enrichment and quantitative proteomics workflows in collaboration with CRG core facilities.

• Investigate regulators of protein turnover and centriole integrity using molecular perturbations and biochemical and imaging assays.

About the lab

The Bettencourt-Dias Lab investigates cell division and organelle biology, with particular emphasis on centrosomes and cilia. The team uses cell biology, high-resolution microscopy, proteomics and molecular approaches to understand how centrioles are assembled, maintained and eliminated in heath and disease, and how these processes evolved in eukaryotes.
