Bioinformatician in microtubule function and cell division
The Institute
The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The CRG is composed by an interdisciplinary, motivated and creative scientific team which is supported both by a flexible and efficient administration and by high-end and innovative technologies.
In September 2026, the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) has received the renewal of the 'HR Excellence in Research' Award from the European Commission. This is a recognition of the Institute's commitment to developing an HR Strategy for Researchers, designed to bring the practices and procedures in line with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (Charter and Code).

The role
We are recruiting a bioinformatician to turn experimental biological data into reliable analyses that guide research decisions. The selected candidate will work with researchers to organize and quality check datasets, develop reproducible scripts and workflows, analyse results, and communicate findings clearly to experimental colleagues. Initial work is expected to involve analysis of variation in gene expression and genetic variants in the TTLL and CCP tubulin modifying enzymes and their partners and regulators. The successful candidate will document code and methods so that analyses can be reviewed, reused and extended within the group.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and maintain documented analysis workflows for the group’s biological datasets, including data cleaning, quality control, visualization and reporting
- Work with experimental researchers to define analysis plans, interpret results and identify follow-up experiments
- Contribute to statistical analyses and, where appropriate, predictive models, with suitable validation and clear reporting of limitations
- Maintain organized code, data and metadata, and help colleagues use shared analyses reproducibly
About the team
The candidate will work in the group of Dr. Vernos (CRG) in a collaboration with the group of Dr. Dopazo (BBRC institute). The group of Dr. Vernos works on the role of microtubule posttranslational modifications by TTLL and CCP enzymes in human diseases and cancer. The group of Dr. Dopazo works on the analysis of genetic variants in humans and their role in disease.
