The Institute
The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The CRG is composed by an interdisciplinary, motivated and creative scientific team which is supported both by a flexible and efficient administration and by high-end and innovative technologies.
In April 2021, the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) received the renewal of the 'HR Excellence in Research' Award from the European Commission. The role
The successful candidate will join to the CRG/UPF Flow Cytometry Unit where new cell sorters have been bought. This equipment requires constant assistance and therefore it is necessary to have an operator constantly monitoring the equipment and the experiments.
About the Unit
The CRG/UPF Flow Cytometry Unit, one of the most advanced in Europe, has six analysers (1x LSRII, 1X Fortessa, 3X Aurora and 1X Attune Xenith) and five high speed cell sorters (BD Influx, BD FACSAria, Bigfoot, FACSDiscoverS8 and Cytek Aurora CS.
With all this technology we can cover all user’s needs. The unit has more than 600 users. Every year we assist about 350 users from different research groups of our institute and from other ones, at national and international level.
Currently, the Unit team is composed of 5 staff (technical operations manager and flow cytometry expert lab technicians) and the Director. All are involved in user’s assistance and in part in the research projects of the Unit in a highly dynamic and international environment.
The unit also develops advanced cytometry applications to offer it to researchers, such as the isolation of chromosomes, extracellular vesicles or individualized viruses.
Whom would we like to hire?
Professional experience
Must Have
- Have a minimum 2 year of experience in general flow cytometry and cell sorting
- Have proven experience in cell sorting using conventional and spectral instruments
Desirable but not required/ Nice to have
- Experience in spectral cytometry
- Experience operating FACSaria, BD Influx, Bigfoot, FACSDiscover S8 and/or Aurora CS cell sorters
- Experience in cell culture, Flow Karyotyping, sorting of EVs and single-virus
Education and training
- You hold a bachelor's degree in biology, Life Sciences or similar
Languages
- Fluent in English
- Fluent in Spanish
Technical skills
- You have advanced MS Office skills
- You have Flowjo, DiVa, SpectroFlow, Chorus and other flow cytometry software skills
Competences
- Highly developed organizational skills
- Excellent customer service
- Good communication skills

Selection Process
