The Institute

The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The role  

A PhD student position is available in the lab of Fátima Gebauer to investigate the role of novel RNA binding proteins (RBPs) in melanoma progression. The excellent candidate will determine the molecular mechanisms underlying RBP effects, with a special focus on RBPs with roles in membrane-associated translation and/or biology. 

About the lab

Whom would we like to hire? 

Professional experience  

Must Have

  • Prior wet-lab expertise with RNA-binding proteins, cell culture and high-throughput assays 

  • You have proven experience with RNA-binding proteins and RNA manipulation 

  • You are fluent in English

  • MS Office skills

Desirable but not required/ Nice to have

  • Bioinformatics analysis of high-throughput data

  • Expertise in membrane biology 

Education and training

  • You hold (by the start date) a master's degree (300 ECTS credits)

Languages

  • You are proficient in English

The Offer – Working Conditions 

  • Contract duration: 4-year PhD student position 

  • Estimated annual gross salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and consistent with our pay scales 

  • Target start date: September 2025
