The Institute

The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The role 

In this research project, the PhD student will study fundamental cellular processes of innate phagocytic immune functions in early embryogenesis. Zebrafish will be used as the primary vertebrate model system in combination with 4D imaging of cellular dynamics and functional in vivo and ex vivo assays.
The overall aim will be to identify molecular and biophysical mechanisms regulating tissue clearance and error correction in the earliest stages of development.

About the lab

The Ruprecht lab studies multi-scale dynamics of cell and tissue organization in early embryogenesis. We have a key focus on understanding biological self-organization, cell and tissue morphogenesis and dynamic cell behaviour in 3D tissues.

Our lab follows a highly interdisciplinary approach combining molecular and cell biological tools with advanced biophysical methods and quantitative live cell imaging approaches.

Whom would we like to hire? 

Professional experience 

Must Have

  • You have experience with live fluorescence imaging and image/data analysis
  • You have interest and high motivation to work in an interdisciplinary research team

Desirable but not required

  • You have experience with vertebrate model systems
  • You have experience with statistics and image analysis software

Education and training

  • You hold a Masters degree

Languages

  • You are fluent in English

Competences 

  • You have team working skills
  • You have strong communication skills

The Offer – Working Conditions

  • Contract duration: 4 years PhD Position
  • Estimated annual gross salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and consistent with our pay scales.
  • Target start date: October 2020.
