The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The CRG is composed by an interdisciplinary, motivated and creative scientific team which is supported both by a flexible and efficient administration and by high-end and innovative technologies.
In April 2021, the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) received the renewal of the 'HR Excellence in Research' Award from the European Commission. This is a recognition of the Institute's commitment to developing an HR Strategy for Researchers, designed to bring the practices and procedures in line with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (Charter and Code).
A PhD student position is available in Fatima Gebauer's lab to investigate the role of RNA-binding proteins in cancer progression. The focus is on CSDE1, a protein we have previously shown to display context-specific functions in cancer (Wurth et al, Cancer Cell 2016; Avolio et al, Cell Reports 2022). The position is available to investigate differential functions CSDE1 isoforms in this process.

Whom would we like to hire?
• You have experience in RNA regulation, standard molecular biology and tissue culture techniques
Desirable but not required/ Nice to have
• If you have authorship on publications it will be considered a plus
Education and training
• You hold a Master degree
• You are proficient in English
• You have experience in high-throughput technologies (CLIP, RIP-Seq, RNA-Seq, etc) and/or animal handling
• You are highly motivated
• You are self-driven
• You are independent
The Offer – Working Conditions
• Contract duration: 1 year + extension FPI fellowship linked to the project.
• Estimated annual gross salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and consistent with our pay scales.
• Target start date: January 2023.
