The Institute

The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The role 

We seek a highly motivated and organized candidate to support researchers to develop research activities by assisting on the preparation of media and applying and supporting basic tasks that guarantee the normal development of the service.

Tasks will include:

  • Preparation of common media: cellular and bacteriological media, buffers, fly food tubes and flasks, general solution, (NGM plates) and other media upon request. Load and start-up of autoclaves and sterilization ovens
  • Lab maintenance tasks: PH meter and analytics weighing scales calibration
  • Administrative tasks: registration and controlling of monthly stock of media and reagents (inventory) follow up of raw materials and consumed products

About the department

The Facility Management Department provides adequate working spaces and functional research equipment, thereby allowing researchers to focus on their research, and to guarantee a safe working environment for all CRG members.

The following services are offered by Facility Management:

  • Manage space and equipment
  • Health & Safety Office
  • Sustainability
  • Media, cleaning and sterilization service (MCSS)

Whom would we like to hire? 

Professional experience

Must Have

  • You have previous experience in tasks related to laboratory maintenance, media preparation, and administrative duties related to the positon

Desirable but not required/ Nice to have

  • You have previous experience in biological or chemical research laboratories

Education and training

  • You hold intermediate or higher vocational training as clinical lab Technician and/ or analysis and control Technician


  • You are fluent in English (oral and written)

Technical skills

  • You have advanced MS Office skills; Excel, Word and PowerPoint


  • You have highly developed organization skills
  • You are both capable of working in a group and autonomously

The Offer – Working Conditions

  • Contract duration: 1,5 months
  • Estimated annual gross salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and consistent with our pay scales.
  • Target start date: August, 2020

Selection Process

  • Pre-selection: The pre-selection process will be based on qualifications and expertise reflected on the candidates CVS. It will be merit-based.
  • Interview: Preselected candidates will be interviewed by the Hiring Manager of the position and a selection panel if required.
  • Offer Letter: Once the successful candidate is identified the Human Resources department will send a Job Offer, specifying the start day, salary, working conditions, among other important details.
