The Institute

The Centro Nacional de Análisis Genómico (CNAG-CRG) is one of the largest Genome Sequencing Centers in Europe. CNAG-CRG researchers participate in major International Genomic Initiatives such as the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC), the International Human Epigenome Consortium (IHEC), the International Rare Diseases Research Consortium (IRDiRC) and the European Infrastructure for life-science information (ELIXIR), as well as in several EU-funded projects.

The role

The CNAG-CRG is looking for a Communications and Data Helpdesk Coordinator to join the Solve-RD (www.solve-rd.eu) H2020 project. Solve-RD aims to solve a large number of undiagnosed rare disease cases through combined Omics approaches, using the RD-Connect Genome-Phenome Analysis Platform (GPAP; platform.rd-connect.eu) as one of the key infrastructures. Main tasks for the candidate will be to provide a comprehensive professional support and external helpdesk service for the Solve-RD users of the RD-Connect platform, including, but not restricted to, registration, data submissions, data monitoring, assistance, training, communication, dissemination and reporting.

  1. Coordinate Solve-RD/RD-Connect helpdesk related activities.
  2. Liaise with the Solve-RD Coordination Team, the RD-Connect Data Access Committe and other stakeholders as necessary.
  3. Provide support to platform users and the European Reference Networks (ERNs) including, but not restricted to, registration, data submission, data monitoring and platform usage.
  4. Participate in training, communication, dissemination and reporting activities.
  5. Assist with preparation of meetings.

About the team/ lab/ department

The selected candidate will join the Bioinformatics Analysis Unit led by Dr Sergi Beltran. The multi-disciplinary 16 member Unit it is devoted to NGS data analysis and tool development, mostly related to human health. Dr Beltran is a partner in Solve-RD, URD-Cat (www.urdcat.cat), ELIXIR (www.elixir-europe.org), MatchMaker Exchange (www.matchmakerexchange.org) and GA4GH Search API and leads the development of the RD-Connect GPAP.

Whom would we like to hire?

  • You hold a degree in Genetics, Biology, Bioinformatics or related discipline.
  • You have good understanding of genomic data analysis, preferentially related to human genetic diseases.
  • You have excellent communication skills.
  • You are fluent in English

Desirable but not required                                                                                                                                                  

  • Experience with helpdesk activities will be highly valued.
  • Experience with Unix operating systems will be valued
  • Knowledge of Bash, Perl, Python, Ruby or R will be valued.

The Offer

  • Contract duration: One year with the option to be extended.
  • Estimated annual gross salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and consistent with our pay scales.
  • Target start date: November, 2018
